As you can see from the maps below, snow is expected to fall in Nevada this week:
Several inches of snow is possible in northern and central regions of Nevada as a result of this large weather system. It's also worth mentioning that snow might fall around the outskirts of Las Vegas, per the NWS.
"Nevada winters can bring harsh and quickly-changing weather conditions," according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. "Driving hazards such as limited visibility, black ice, avalanche-prone areas, and snow removal equipment are just some elements that may be encountered on winter roads."
It's important to remember that snow and ice can make roads more slippery. Therefore, you should brake earlier than usual whenever you drive during winter conditions. It's also a good idea to increase the distance between yourself and other vehicles in case you need to stop quickly for whatever reason.
The Nevada Department of Transportation recommends using extra caution on bridges, ramps, overpasses, and shaded areas since they're likely to freeze. Also, if you're driving in the mountains or snowy areas, always carry tire chains in your vehicle.
