Most of us want to live a happy life. You want to wake up with a smile on your face and live each day with a beautiful sense of optimism. But often, that's not the case.
Why? I believe there are two reasons.
Constantly Comparing Yourself To Others.
Ah, the common problem that 99% of people in society experience at one point or another.
Chances are, you compare yourself to other people. You see someone's vacation photos on Instagram and wish you were in The Bahamas with them. But of course, you're not. Nope. You're sitting on the sofa wondering what you're going to do with your life.
My friend, there are 7.8 billion people on this earth. You have a completely different life from every single one of them. So don't focus on their circumstances. Focus on your own. Wherever you are in life, figure out what you can do each day to make progress towards a better future.
Focusing Too Much On The Past Or Future.
According to Psychology Today, "Life unfolds in the present. But so often, we let the present slip away, allowing time to rush past unobserved and unseized, and squandering the precious seconds of our lives as we worry about the future and ruminate about what's past."
Let me tell you something that took a while to wrap my head around. You can't change the past. It's already happened. However, you can adjust your actions in the present moment to create a better future.
Focus on what you can control in every aspect of your life instead of what you can't. You'll live a much happier life as a result.
