It is the creator economy, and more and more startups are building up their products and services to tailor influencers, marketers, and companies that produce content. We have seen social media automation tools take flight, as well as editing and design apps like Canva. A big part of social media is the engagement factor. It is not merely about the broadcast aspect like in traditional media. It is about the ability to connect and engage with an audience, and let the audience become an integral part of the conversation. Since the pandemic, we have seen how physical events have been adapted into virtual ones. We had a chance to talk to Eran Eluz, the CTO of evmux, a startup that created a very advanced live streaming solution, in essence, they are presenting this intersection between the creator economy and the modern way of doing virtual events.

Hi Eran, you and your team have vast experience in the events industry from your work at Xtag. Can you please elaborate on why you chose to convert that experience into a SaaS platform?

Xtag is a product we have developed for over 10 years, and it also has its Saas part in addition to the service. A lot has changed since then, and in the last few years, we were exposed to PLG. I think that's the reason why we decided to go and develop evmux. We believe in PLG so much, that's the new era of Saas, and we are proud that we've built evmux as a PLG. On top of that, our vast experience in the event industry helped us get the best out of the team and come out with a top-notch product right of the gate. Working with event planners and top-tier marketers in the most prominent enterprises globally is an experience that most other startups simply don't have.

To be honest, there are several already highly talked about streaming solutions. What makes evmux stand out?

I think that what's so crazy and challenging in this industry is that it's so new yet booming so fast. That brings a massive opportunity to new products like ours to be the sweet spot. The requirements have been changing so quickly, precisely after COVID hit. Also, if we compare this industry to other industries with dozens of competitors, there are only several companies in this industry. The main reason is that the technology involved with Live streaming products is very deep and complex. I think that there is definitely room for evmux to grow quickly.

The creator economy is booming, lots of creators are very tech-savvy as well. What are some of the main requirements and features that you heard creators want from their live streaming solution?

The creator's industry is so great and diverse, and that's what we love about it! Among our clients, we have kids, grandmothers, gamers, podcasters, live streamers, event planners, marketers - so many different personas that leverage recording and live content. Some of them are very tech-savvy, and some of them are totally not. Our challenge is finding the sweet spot of being very easy-to-use yet robust to allow the amazing creators to be creative and not limit themselves while using evmux. We see the evolution of this industry by hearing the requirements for new features and capabilities. The creators today want to be able to stream live and engage with their audience and then be able to repurpose their content to social media efficiently. They would like to monetize their content, be able to be creative, keep things simple, and so much more. Sometimes there is a contradiction between the requirements, such as keeping things as easy as possible and having unlimited capabilities, which is exactly our challenge.

Can you please talk about your current product roadmap? What are some features you guys are planning to release soon?

We will soon release our local recording feature that comes together with the ability to get a separate recording of each speaker, both audio-only and video+audio. This capability is extremely important for content creators because they can get the RAW material in the best quality for any post-editing purposes. In addition, we will be the only platform that provides both Full HD recording in the cloud and up to 4K local recording. We always think about how to be unique and how to solve the enormous challenges of remote recording and live streaming. Stability is our number one priority, and that's why the system is designed to have always a plan B in place to ensure our clients are set for success.
