You can have many frozen treats this summer.
The National Ice Cream Day was on July 18, but you can still enjoy ice cream. Chicago was built on swampland, so it isn’t surprising that when the summer season arrives, the day becomes long and humid. Of course, everyone living in Illinois wants to escape the heat. Its cities, especially Chicago, have a lot of ice cream shops and frozen treat spots.
If you and your friends are looking for nostalgic flavors of bygone eras, you may make a plan and visit the following ice cream shops.
TATES Old Fashioned Ice Cream
During your visit to TATES Old Fashioned Ice Cream, you won’t find anything fashionable, fancy, and modern. This ice cream shop is present in downtown La Grange. Besides having delicious ice cream, it has a great indoor environment. The walls are filled with vintage photos and shelves have so many knickknack toys. I suggest you try the apple-cider doughnuts and different frozen treats. My favorite is the Tate's Walking Waffle sundae, which features two scoops of mango, vanilla, or chocolate topped with hot fudge and cherries.
Address: 25 S Ashland Ave, La Grange, IL 60525, United States
Kimmer's Ice Cream
Kimmer's Ice Cream was founded in 2010 in St. Charles. Another branch is present in downtown Wheaton. The latter is a pink palace having beautiful and nicely painted walls. Plus, there are labels on the take-home pints. As far as the ice cream is concerned, you can order anything from Aztec hot chocolate, Coffee & Donuts, and maple bacon to white-chocolate salty oatmeal and Parent Trap (Oreos, vanilla, and peanut-butter ribbon).
Address: 1 Illinois St, St. Charles, IL 60174, United States
Daisy's Malt Shoppe
When you visit Daisy's Malt Shoppe, you must try gobs of rich Wisconsin cream and boat-loads of luscious flavors. These aren’t low-fat and low-calorie ice creams, but their taste is very well. Daisy's Malt Shoppe is not only famous for its delicious ice cream but also for its old-timey look that includes black-and-white tiles on the floor and countertop.
Address: 807 N Quentin Rd, Palatine, IL 60067, United States
Capannari Ice Cream
Capannari Ice Cream was opened in 2001. It is housed in a smartly restored building. You can bring your kids there for thick and delicious ice cream. I suggest you buy the black raspberry chip for your little ones. I also like the dark purple color and chocolate-dipped ice cream.
Address: 10 S Pine St, Mt Prospect, IL 60056, United States
Las Delicias de Michoacan
Colored bubblegum pink and studded with whole pine nuts, the sweet pinon ice cream served at Las Delicias de Michoacan is one of the best in the town. The presentation is basic, but the taste is very well. You can also enjoy cherries and coconut ice cream. Two to three scoops are available at reasonable prices.
