My review of new flavors at Fridays in Fresno

I wanted to get this review out to you today after a great dining experience at Fridays last night, August 9th, 2023.

We went to our favorite spot with our son and future daughter-in-law for a little celebration.

We haven't been to Fridays for about six months. After I started my medical issues of stroking constantly, we dropped out of the food scene. We're back after surgery, and they had new things to write about, so here we go.

The Kids

Our son and his future wife ordered the 6oz steaks with sides. There's nothing new about the steaks, except now they make a big deal of picking out three sides for free, or you can add on some unique sides for a tiny added cost.

Let's remember Patti, and I have a soft spot for Fridays, from the food, to the service and the management. They've come to know us and take great care when we dine there.

The steaks were ordered medium rare and only messed up on our daughter-in-law's steak. That one came out more medium than medium rare. They took care of it instantly, and things worked out well.

They ordered sides of green beans which they bragged about, and a side salad which I also ordered. The salad was full of fresh lettuce and veggies and tasted great, especially with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

Patti's Dinner

Patti decided to stick with her favorite there, fish and chips. She and I have always enjoyed their fish and chips; last night was no exception.

Even though the fish is frozen, I must admit it doesn't taste frozen, and Patti concurs. It consistently tastes fresh, and its batter is crunchy and flavorful since it's beer battered.

Patti also had a side salad, but she asked for baby greens which they don't have, but they did substitute romain for iceberg. That made Patti happy.

My Dinner

I ventured into a new item. I ordered the ribs, which aren't new but have unique sauces.

I went with Korean Sweet Chilli, and I'm glad I did. It had the right amount of heat and sweetness to make the regular rib meal stand out.

Here are some of the new sauces:

  1. Al Pastor Sauce
  2. Spiked Orange Glaze
  3. AFoxx on the Roxx Sauce
  4. Nashville Hot Sauce
  5. Apple Butter BBQ (Not New)
  6. Whiskey-Glaze (Not New)
  7. Whiskey-Glaze Blaze Sauce (Semi-New)

I wish I could try them all simultaneously, but that won't happen, so you'll see more reviews soon.

Back to the Ribs

The ribs at Fridays are some of the best ribs I've had. I've had ribs at a few places and have written reviews about them, but the ribs at Fridays are something else.

They are always falling off the bone tender. Consistency in cooking has always been my main pet peeve when writing reviews, and Fridays stays the course with their ribs.

Now with the new flavored sauces, you can get some exciting, unique accents to tempt your taste buds like I did last night with the Korean Sweet Red Chillii sauce.

It comes with sesame seeds sprinkled on top, which I had to tell them not to add since I'm allergic, but I bet they add to the Korean flavor.

Along with the salad as a side, I ordered the mashed potatoes, which are excellent—tasty, tiny bits of potato added to the flavor, and just the right amount of salt.

The End

A great meal last night, and I guarantee we will return more often, especially since I want to try more of the flavored sauce on my ribs.

Now it's your turn. You deserve a night out with great food and fantastic drinks. Plus, if you join the email club, you get points for food orders towards rewards for more food. We've gone some nights where all it costs is our drinks. Not bad.

Buon Appetito!

Patti, my wife, and I write about life here in Fresno, California, and the Central Valley. We especially enjoy writing reviews about restaurants we've dined at, along with the food that is served. From time to time, we also write about and share recipes that we are fond of and hope you'll try them and let us know your thoughts. We are not traditional food critics. We don't have to worry about restaurants making unique dishes for us. We're just the average customer going in to dine, and then we write reviews.
