Watch as I make spaghetti Aglio e Olio with a special ingredient
When I was growing up in Sicily our usual Friday evening dish was spaghetti Aglio e Olio. One reason was back then Catholics were not supposed to eat meat on Fridays so my grandmother would make this dish. Sometimes it was just with oil and garlic, other times she would add anchovies or some type of fish, and possibly some veggies. On other nights during the week when she would make this she would add different meats that were in the house just to add a twist. It's an easy and fast dish to make on any night. It is also a flavorful dish whether you just go with garlic and oil or add something else to kick it up a notch. Either way, Buon Appetito!
