Mark Hake

Based on six categories Scottsdale, AZ just ranked as the top city in the U.S. for golfers by Lawnstarter magazine.

The magazine did this to mark National Golf Lover’s Day on Oct. 4, 20023.

The six categories used to judge 200 golfing-oriented cities were:

  • Public course access
  • Premium course access
  • Training access
  • Course quality
  • Community rank
  • Climate rank

The top 6 best cities were ranked as follows:

This shows that Scottsdale, AZ, was ranked #1 in 4 of 6 categories. Tucson, AZ came in as number 6.

Scottsdale ranked number 1 in access. It has 9.47 public golf courses per 100,000 residents and 12.36 private courses per 100,000 residents.

It also has 8 full-time golf resorts.

In terms of training, Scottsdale has 7.41 PGA golf coaches per 100,000 residents.

And, of course, its mild temperature, although not the best in the U.S., still attracts many visitors each year.

Another major feature of Scottsdale for golf tourists is its 16 annual amateur gold competitions and tournaments.

The bottom line is that Scottsdale is very popular with golfers.

In addition, Scottsdale has a popular Top Golf practice range which opened in 2014. TopGolf uses technology to enhance the game of golf in a three-story facility with hundreds of bays.

This is an even easier way for newcomers to golf to practice their swinging as well as learn how golf works in an entertaining atmosphere. The Top Golf facility is located very close to the Talking Stick Resort and Casino in Scottsdale, Arizona.
