Huge Facility Planned

The facility will be built on an 11-acre site near the casino in Scottsdale. It is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.

Phase 1 includes 28 over-sized (34’x64’) indoor pickleball courts. They will have premium cushion surfacing. Other features are:

  • All courts will be privately gated,
  • fenced with professional indirect lighting, and
  • high-quality video cameras for streaming matches or recording games.

There will also be a Championship Court (50’x70’) with a wrap-around 500-seat stadium. This stadium will allow TV production of the games.

Additional phases will include 16 new courts. It will also have a clubhouse, as well as

  • a restaurant and bar,
  • two rooftop courts for special events,
  • member locker rooms and in-demand amenities,
  • full gym,
  • childcare and after-school tutoring services.

Pickleball Growing Fast in the U.S.

The USA Pickleball site says that over 48 million people in the US will play pickleball this year. This makes it the fastest-growing sport in the U.S.

For example, almost 5 million people played the game in 2022 per the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), the premier trade association for the sporting goods and fitness industry.

The new facility, being indoors and air-conditioned, will moderate the noise and climate issues associated with the sport.

Its popularity is growing worldwide. Some are even trying to make it an Olympic sport.

The bottom line is that the new facility in Scottsdale will help put the city on the map in terms of this fast-growing sport.
