Forbes Advisor just ranked the top 100 cities in the U.S. based on their citizen's educational credentials. Arlington, Virginia is the most educated city in the U.S.

Forbes issued its report on Oct. 13, "What are the 100 Most Educated Cities in the U.S.? Top 100 Cities Ranked."

What the Survey Says

It turns out that over 76% of Arlington's residents have a Bachelor's degree and over 41% of all residents have an advanced graduate degree. Both of these stats are based on the 25-year-old and older population.

This can be seen in the table below.

Moreover, only 4.65% of its 18-year-old population have dropped out of high school. It seems most families there encourage higher education.

That should be good news for the economic health of that city and for Virginia as a state. Moreover, Washington, D.C., very close to Arlington, is ranked as the third best-educated city in the U.S.

Educated City Means High Income

Arlington's population is 235,764 people. Its population has grown 16.2% since 2020, according to Bestplaces.net.

Moreover, the median income for Arlington residents is an astounding $128,145 per head, according to Bestplaces.net.

As a result, of the high income and education levels, the unemployment rate is just 4.0%.

That makes it one of the richest and most wealthy places to live in the U.S. For example, the median value of homes in the city is over $750,000.

Arlington is the home of the Pentagon, and the Arlington memorial, and is right across the river from Washington, D.C.

The bottom line seems to be that Arlington, VA is a very educated and wealthy city. That likely makes it very attractive to consumer goods and services companies to sell their products.
