The Santan Mountain Casino opened its doors on June 30, 2023, in Gilbert, Arizona, to great fanfare and gamblers' interest.
Although the crowds were huge, I went to the casino opening and found it very exciting. It was actually hard to find an open slot machine. This was despite the fact that the casino claims to have 813 slot machines.
Bubble Craps Popular But Not Present
As a result, I ended up playing at the crap's table, which had a $10 minimum bet, for a short while.
However, I had been looking for what is called a "bubble craps" machine, but could not find one. That is the kind of craps game where two individual dice are tumbled within on plastic "bubble."
Crap players like this since it is their own individual game and there is no timer or forced time limit during which you have to make your bets. The dice results are unique to your own game, and not shared with anyone else.
Moreover, you aren't subject to the vagaries of a crap roll as happens on the craps table.
I approached a security guard and asked if they had a bubble craps machine. He said, surprisingly, that was one of the most asked questions he had gotten all day.
I was also surprised about this. The Gila River Casino has a bubble craps machine in its Lone Butte casino.
The closest they have to this is a circular "stadium" digital craps game. The screen is circular and you sit at digital desks showing your own craps game. But the drawback is there is 20 second time limit to both put your money in and make all your bets.
The Rest is Great
This is a unique casino, especially given the fact there are floor-to-ceiling windows on three of four sides of the casino. You can look out and see what time of day it is - unusual for most casinos.
Moreover, the sports betting arena and the restaurants are all first-class and new. Everyone loves this.
But I have to admit I was disappointed in Gila River Casino's San Tan Mountain casino for not having a bubble craps machine.
