The AZ Dept. of Transportation (ADOT) highlighted 5 areas in Phoenix highways that will be closed or restricted this weekend, May 12 - May 15.
The first is the eastbound section of I-10 downtown (i.e., heading toward Tucson). It will be closed between Highway US 60 and Loop 202. This is due to the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. The eastbound section of I-10 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, May 15. Detours are available as seen on the ADOT site.
The second closure is southbound I-17 between Greenway Road and Northern Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, May 15, for pavement improvement. Also, southbound I-17 on-ramps at Union Hills Drive and Bell Road will also be closed.
The third closure is Eastbound/northbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) - it will be closed between Val Vista Drive and US 60 from 10 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, for pavement sealing.
The fourth is Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) will narrow to three lanes (left lanes closed) between Power and Greenfield roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday, May 14, for pavement improvement.
Lastly, Westbound I-10 will narrow to one lane between Watson Road and SR 85 from 10 p.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 13, for a widening project.
Each of these closures can be seen in the map shown on the ADOT site for this weekend shown above.
ADOT says that most of these projects are funded in part by Proposition 400, a dedicated sales tax approved by Maricopa County voters in 2004.
