Fort Worth, Texas – A 2018 study by the Texas Trees Foundation determined that Fort Worth City has an urban canopy coverage of approximately 18%. The city has a goal of increasing its canopy coverage to over 30%. Set to start in the first quarter of 2022, this program is supposed to last for an estimated 15 years.

“Increasing our urban forest from 18% to 30% will not be an easy task,” said the city’s mayor, Mattie Parker. “To complete this project in the next 1.5 decades, the city government needs all the help it can get.”

“What’s even more important is that we will have to minimize tree removals,” added Mattie Parker. “If we are trying to boost our urban forest, we have to ensure that we are not getting rid of the trees we already have.”

The mayor noted that when it comes to getting help, the city is already doing great. According to Mattie Parker, Fort Worth Tree Experts, a local tree care company, has already announced that it will support the tree planting project.

“When the city announced that the tree planting project was set to begin in 2022,” said Mayor Mattie Parker, “Fort Worth Tree Experts did not hesitate to call and offer to donate planting trees as well as help with the planting procedures. As of today, the city has received more than 300 planting trees from the tree care company.”

Fort Worth is a city that has promoted sound urban forestry practices since 1873 when its charter declared that hitching a horse to a tree was illegal. Fort Worth city hired its first arborist in the 1920s. The city also happens to be the longest-running and oldest Tree City USA in the state of Texas, having acquired the designation back in 1978.

“With all the efforts we have put towards maintaining a healthy urban forest,” said the city’s mayor, “it comes as a surprise to learn that we are still way below our intended forest cover. However, with more work – and with the collaboration we are getting from tree care companies like Fort Worth Tree Experts – we might be able to hit the 30% tree cover mark in less than 10 years.”

Fort Worth Tree Experts will reportedly use its base of operation at 1509 Miller Ave #1009, Fort Worth, TX 76105, United States while supporting the city’s tree-planting project. According to Mayor Mattie Parker, the city’s Forestry Department will communicate with the company via +1 682-900-6326 and
