HOUSTON, TX - It is no secret that Houston is infamous for its scorching summers. Anyone who thinks otherwise would have to attend a crash course in being a Houstonian (if there's one). Staying indoors helps us to cool off because most of the buildings in Houston are air-conditioned. However, if you opt to stay outside, here are some activities that can help you fight Houston summer.
1. Stay cool in a pool. Houston has 37 community pools. However, for the summer schedule this year, Houston Parks and Recreation Department opened only 10 pools throughout the city that makes one for each district, except for Alief for it is still under renovation. The pools close on Mondays and the operating hours are from 1:00 pm to 08:00 pm.
2. Houston young families' favorite swimming pool, Noah's Ark Pool offers many activities and facilities which are friendly for toddlers. Parents can have fun and be at ease knowing their children play in the shallow swimming pools with slides, mushroom water drop, and sprays from the animals. There are also other activities guests can do in this West Houston facility. Guests can play basketball, climb the indoor climbing wall, or burn more calories at the gymnasium.
3. Go to Galveston Beach. This beach is located on the Gulf of Mexico. You can reach this destination within one hour if you depart from downtown. You catch the sunset, enjoy the Victorian architecture, go fishing, or watch a free family movie or concert at Saengerfest Park.
