HOUSTON, TX — Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo FC completed the transfer of forward Christian Ramirez to Aberdeen Football Club.
The Dynamo acquired Ramirez in a trade with Los Angeles Football Club on August 7, 2019. The forward finished with eight goals and three assists in 31 appearances for the Dynamo. As in 2021, Ramirez has appeared in six games and scored one goal against the Colorado Rapids on May 15.
The Los Angeles native has played for three clubs in MLS, beginning with Minnesota United FC from 2017-2018, before being traded to LAFC midway through the 2018 season. Ramirez has scored 35 goals in MLS and made his 100th league appearance earlier this year in Houston's 2-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on April 16.
Before turning professional, Ramirez played for the University of California Santa Barbara Gauchos and Concordia Eagles. After going undrafted, the 6-foot-2 then signed with Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer League before eventually signing with an MLS franchise.
"We'd like to thank Christian for his contributions to the club, both on and off the field, since joining us in 2019. We wish him well with this next step in his career and all the best moving forward," said Senior Vice President and General Manager Matt Jordan.
Aberdeen competed in the Scottish Premier League and finished fourth in the 2020-2021 regular season. The Dons has won the league title four times and finished as the second-best team in Scotland on 17 occasions.
The last title in club history came in 2014, following their penalty kick shootout victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish League Cup final.
