It's been over a year of social distancing, masks, and isolation but with the advent of the vaccine and the precautions we've honored to stop the spread of COVID, the town is once again able to open up and schedule some social activities.

The warm, and stifling, weather is a great chance to give zoom a break and get outside with some real-life people.

Gay Pride Month

Winthrop has two events in honor of National Pride Month.

The Blackstrap BBQ will be holding a Pride Party on June 11th from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM. It's on a Friday, so put it on your weekend activity calendar and come out to enjoy some great BBQ. Indoor-outdoor seating is available.

In addition, Winthrop will be raising the Pride Flag in front of the Town Hall on June 15th at 6:00 PM. Everyone is welcome!

Ferry Service

The ferry is back! The ferry is back! The Winthrop Ferry is now in operation and will be offering service Monday through Friday on a weekday schedule. Passengers can purchase tickets on board or online.

The ferry will service Winthrop, Quincy, and Boston, making stops at the New England Aquarium and the Seaport District behind the Institute of Contemporary Art. Quincy is the final stop.

It's a great alternative to the subway where you can enjoy ocean breezes and time on the water.

Annual Town-wide Yard Sale

The 12th Annual Town-wide Yard Sales Day will take place on Saturday, June 19th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. So far, there are over 75 participants in our 1.6 square mile town. Sponsored by the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, the event will take place rain or shine.

The cost is $25 per household and you can register by calling the Chamber at (617) 846-9898 or purchasing a ticket on Eventbrite.

For more information, call or write the Chamber at info@winthropchamber.com.

If none of these events are up your alley, take a walk around town and enjoy the sunshine and maskless faces. It's good knowing the smiles were there all along.
