The South Street Headhouse District’s Spring Festival had to jump forward a few months, so they decided to give it a festive makeover and a brand new name: South Street Fest. On Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., festival-goers can enjoy international food and drinks, handmade crafts, and iconic, eclectic vendors, plus plenty of new experiences and festivities. This event, spanning South Street from 2nd to 8th streets, promises to fill your day with unique eats, live music, local shopping, and seasonal fall fun.
South Street Fest will be held on Saturday, October 1st from 11AM to 7PM on South Street in Philadelphia.(Provided by South Street Fest)

This family-friendly festival is perfect for all ages and a great way to support local businesses. Head over to 3rd Street Gallery, where they will display artwork of all types, with family-friendly & hands-on art projects running throughout the day. Explore the street from 2nd & Lombard to 8th & South Street for an ever-changing festival experience, from Vietnamese hoagies at Bahn Mi & Bottles to shredded beef and sweet plantain arepas at Puyero Venezuelan Flavor.

At the west end of the festival on the 700 Block of South Street, Brauhaus Schmitz will host their 14th Annual South Street Oktoberfest featuring live Oompah music, German dancers, a Liter Lift Competition, games, face painting, delicious schnaps, and the very best German food and beer. Extended down 5th Street, Philly AIDS Thrift will host their 17th Anniversary Block Party featuring music, games, food, and drinks.

The South Street Headhouse District (SSHD) is a business improvement district, or BID, which aims to provide a safer, cleaner, & well-managed community for the benefit of local business owners, residents, and visitors of the South Street Area. The SSHD has a rich history that has revolved around providing public safety, sanitation, and other services in addition to the helpful services provided by the City of Philadelphia. Now, SSHD continues planning improvements in the urban area by developing and emphasizing the artistic and creative aesthetic within the dynamic and diverse business community. Located between Queen Village and Society Hill, the SSHD is one of Philadelphia's most visited tourist destinations and is home to over 400 businesses. The Philadelphia Magic Gardens, Famous 4th Street Delicatessen, Philly AIDS Thrift, Repo Records, and the Historic Fabric Row are some of the many attractions that can be found in this area. Whether you are looking for a bite to eat, a new favorite spot to shop, or simply a chance to learn about the interesting history behind the area, the South Street Headhouse District has many opportunities for fun and exciting experiences.
