The best chefs and restaurants in the Philadelphia area will return to Morgan’s Pier Thursday, May 26th from 6-9 pm for The Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA)’s 8th annual Guac Off event. The event will bring together hundreds of guests to sample over a dozen varieties of guacamole, enjoy drink specials and help crown the much anticipated 2022 Guac Master. Two winners will be selected, one chosen by a panel of judges and the other by a people’s choice vote. Tickets can be purchased at mannapa.org/guacoff.
“We’re thrilled to welcome back and kick off the summer season with our 8th annual Guac Off event to support our mission of delivering nutritious meals and counseling to individuals battling critical illnesses,” said Sue Daugherty, MANNA CEO. “We continue to witness an outpouring of love and support from the community and we are thankful to Morgan’s Pier and to all the restaurants, judges and sponsors who are helping to make this event a success.”
Chefs from a dozen different restaurants will present their most creative guacamole recipes for guests and the judges to taste and vote for the 2022 Guac Master. Several of Philadelphia’s top restaurants will be participating in this year’s Guac Off including Buena Onda, Cantina Feliz, Cafe Ynez, Distrito, Juno Mexican Grill, Morgan’s Pier, Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar, Rosy’s Taco Bar, Sor Ynez, Revolution Taco, Taqueria Amor, Jose Pistola's, Sancho Pistola's, and Pistolas Del Sur.
The Judge’s Choice award will be presented by a panel of guacamole experts including James Beard award-winner Chef Jose Garces, Chef Jen Carroll of Carroll Couture Cuisine, Emmy-award winning reporter and CBS3 anchor Pat Gallen, 92.5 XTU weekday host Nicole Michalik, NBC10 lifestyle and entertainment reporter Aunyea Lachelle, and MANNA’s Director of Operations Chef Eric Gantz.
