The South Street Spring Festival features local restaurants and bars serving al fresco, over 50 boutiques and businesses catering to visitors’ style, shopping, and product needs, several dedicated performance areas, as well as dozens of artists and retailers selling their handmade work, clothing, art, and crafts. This family-friendly, free, and fantastic event for all ages is the perfect chance to breathe fresh air, support local businesses, and have a great time.

“We are so excited to be able to bring back this popular event and kick off the street festival season in Philadelphia while enjoying an afternoon on South Street,” says  Michael Harris, South Street Headhouse District Executive Director. “Now more than ever it’s imperative to support local businesses in the South Street Headhouse District, and we can’t wait to see everyone there.”

Local bites from neighborhood eateries and popular city food trucks bring a plethora of tasty cuisines and flavors that are sure to tantalize the palette. Some of the iconic eateries attending the festival include Bridget Foy’s, Cavanaugh’s Headhouse, and The Twisted Tail, among others. At the west end of the festival on the 700 Block of South Street, Brauhaus Schmitz hosts its annual German Maifest, which includes German beers, dancers, music, food, flower headbands, and a towering Maypole!

The Spring Festival also celebrates Free Comic Book Day at Atomic City Comics, a local Black-owned bookstore, featuring free giveaways and special character appearances. Sports bar and restaurant Woolly Mammoth will also present outdoor performances by Philadelphia’s School of Rock. In addition to these wonderful activities, there will also be a “Hairspray” inspired 60’s Dance Party presented by the Kimmel Center to promote the world-famous musical Hairspray coming to Philadelphia this year.
