Chamberlayne is a census-designated place (CDP) in northern Henrico County, Virginia. It is a suburb of Richmond.

Chamberlayne, Virginia has roots that stretch back to the pre-colonial era. It was named after a plantation that belonged to the Chamberlayne family. The plantation was not only a hub of agricultural activity but also a beacon of societal and educational development. Four generations left a significant mark on Virginia's history.

Churchill Gibson Chamberlayne

Churchill Gibson Chamberlayne lived from 1876 to 1939. Before he died at the age of 62, he was a distinguished member of the family. He and his family were committed to their community. Chamberlayne was a minister, educator, and historian. He founded the Chamberlayne School for Boys which evolved into the revered St. Christopher's School that is now located at 711 St. Christopher's Road, Richmond, VA 23226.
