NBC12 announced that Ashley Hendricks is joining the 12 News Today team in Richmond, Virginia as a co-anchor beginning Monday, June 5, 2023.
Ashley joined NBC12 in February 2022 after anchoring in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Over the past several months, Ashley has been filling in for Candice Smith while she was out having a baby girl. Ashley also filled in on traffic duties and sat in the anchor chair filling in on 12 News Today.
In addition to Ashley anchoring in the morning, she will be in charge of the Acts of Kindness segment each week where she will deliver good news to those who have done notable "acts of kindness" in the Richmond community.
About Ashley Hendricks
Ashley is originally from Henderson, North Carolina, but she is no stranger to Virginia. She’s a proud 2016 graduate of Hampton University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.
She started her television career as a morning reporter in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Within eight months, she was promoted to weekend morning anchor/reporter.
Before starting her television career, Ashley taught 6th and 10th grade English in Raleigh, North Carolina. Then she got a taste of television news as a news production assistant at WRAL and never looked back.
Coming back to Virginia to serve the community through storytelling was a priority for Ashley. In her free time, she enjoys nature walks, cooking, and sci-fi series/films. The new co-anchor looks forward to learning more about the culture, history, and impact Richmond has to offer.
