Former President Donald Trump has a new book that will be released on April 25, 2023. The 320-page book titled Letters to Trump includes 150 letters he has kept over the years. Letters included are from former presidents, including Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
Private and personal letters are included from celebrities such as Jay Leno, Oprah Winfrey, the late Michael Jackson, and the late Princess Diana. There are also letters from foreign leaders, including former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.
Besides the private collection of correspondence between President Trump and world leaders, celebrities, athletes, and business leaders, the book also contains photos and personal testimonies.
Trump is criticized for including some of the letters
Some who wrote letters to Trump years ago aren't pleased their letters are included in his upcoming book.
Oprah Winfrey and Jay Leno are among the celebrities who responded to Donald Trump’s new book which includes letters they wrote to him in the past.
During a CBS interview on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Oprah spoke about the letter she wrote to trump in 2000. She complains because what she wrote then is not how she feels today.
Oprah wrote at the time, “Too bad we’re not running for office. What a TEAM!” according to Axios.
Oprah explained:
“I think he’d written a book and said that he wanted me to be his running mate... if he decided to run. And when I heard that this letter is now going to be a part of a book, I thought, ‘Oh, wasn’t that nice of me to write a note.’ That’s what I thought, because I’m always like, ‘Oh, I should write a note. The person did this, or I should write a note. So I’m really happy that I wrote a note.”
Winfrey clarified that she no longer thinks she and Trump would be a team. In her interview, Oprah told Gayle King:
“I might have thought it back then. I might have thought it 23 years ago. I’m not thinking it today.”
Jay Leno also responded to Trump’s new book by saying he never gave permission for his letter to be shared in a book. A representative of Leno told Newsweek:
“Jay did not release, nor authorize any use of any letter to Trump.”
Trump's publishing company
In a recent interview with Breitbart, the former president said the collection of letters he received over the years shows how differently some people treated him prior to his 2016 campaign.
Trump's publishing company has come to Trump's defense. The publisher claims that there had been “actual or implied” permission from the letter senders.
The book Letters to Trump is being sold at Amazon for $99.
