The Jennifer Hudson Show premiered on Monday, September 12, 2022, on her 41st birthday. She immediately told her audience, "Thank y'all for being here. I'm not gonna cry on y'all. But this is… it's an emotional time and day for me because this is my first show and just know when you see me, you're gonna see my heart. And I hope you feel my heart."
Jennifer Hudson's background
Jennifer Hudson was eliminated from the third season of American Idol 18 years ago. Many people believed she was cheated out of the grand prize. MTV listed Hudson as the sixth greatest contestant in American Idol history and said her exit was the most shocking of all time. The Los Angeles Times claimed Hudson to be the third greatest Idol contestant in the history of the show behind Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson and Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood. Jennifer didn't give up. She used her talent after leaving the singing competition show and has succeeded in many ways.
Jennifer, sometimes referred to as J Hud, was the youngest person to become an EGOT last year when she was 40 years old. EGOT means she has an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. Actually, she has two Grammies.
Jennifer Hudson's daytime talk show
Jennifer's only guest on her first show was American Idol, judge Simon Cowell. They had not talked since she was eliminated from the show after she placed seventh on Season 3 in 2004.
Cowell was surprised and honored to be Jennifer's guest because he isn't usually invited to be on talk shows. At long last, the two sat down and answered each other's questions about what happened to cause the elimination.
Jennifer concluded that had she not been eliminated, her career path would have been much different. She is thankful, excited, and blessed about having her own daytime talk show.
