If you haven't been to these five Florida beaches, now is a perfect time. The sun is hot, the water is warm, and the drinks are cold as more and more of Florida opens up!

This article details the five top-rated beaches in Florida, according to U.S. News. Do you agree with these rankings?

Number 1: Destin

Destin is a popular Florida panhandle vacationing spot, whether you're a tourist or a Floridian through and through. It's actually nicknamed "World's Luckiest Fishing Village." It used to be a fishing town, but now it is well-known for its beaches. Destin comes in the number one spot according to U.S. News for best beaches in the state.

Destin's beaches have a cool advantage over most in Florida, which has made them come in the number one spot: their sandy shores are especially white. They have hints of Appalachian quartz, which makes them also cooler to the touch and gives the water that meets them a luminescent green tint.

Number 2: Sanibel Island

Sanibel Island is an absolute treasure. The whole area has a cute, relaxed, beachy vibe. Not only are the beaches awesome, but Sanibel Island has some of the best beachside shops, galleries, bars, and restaurants.

But it's because of the beaches that Sanibel Island has snagged the second spot on this list. The beaches here also have a unique feature: a TON of shells! If you like combing beaches, then Sanibel is the best beach for the activity. You'll be sure to find many beautiful treasures to take home with you.

Number 3: Clearwater

Clearwater Beach is a beautiful sandy strip that's close to some major attractions. It's a popular beach, which means that yes, it will likely be a bit crowded. However, there are lots of things to do here. Paddleboarding. Jet skiing. Movie theaters. Parks. Great food. Clearwater beach (or just a touch away from it) offers it all.

Number 4: Naples

Ah, Naples. Naples' beaches are situated around the life of luxury. Naples is known for its extravegance. It has many expensive restaurants that you can treat yourself to and high-end hotels right on the sandy, white beaches. The waves here are gentle and relaxing most of the time. Not only is it voted as one of the best beaches in the state, but the beaches at Naples have also been noted as the most romantic too.

Naples is more relaxing and slower-paced than beaches like Clearwater, but if you're looking for a quiet getaway, then this is the beach for you.

Number 5: St. Petersburg

Did you know that St. Petersburg's nickname is "The Sunshine City?" It is one of the sunniest places in our Sunshine State, which is perfect for beach fans! The beaches at St. Petersburg are some of my personal favorites. They are the perfect combination of relaxing and adventurous. You can find a quiet spot easily, as they aren't overly crowded, or you can just as easily find a kayak or jet ski rental and take to the seas!

There's also a lot to do in St. Petersburg after your beach day, like grabbing a bite to eat or visiting a museum.

Do you agree with these ratings?

What do you think about these rankings? Can you think of another beach that deserves one of the top five spots? Have you been to these beaches, and if so, which is your favorite?
