As of April 5th, anyone 18 and older is able to schedule a COVID vaccine appointment in Florida.
Thankfully, my parents are already vaccinated and my fiance (who is a public school teacher) was also protected. I was the last in line and I should be: I am a relatively healthy, relatively young person. This is my experience with booking the COVID vaccine appointment, as well as information about Publix's vaccine booking system.
What vaccines does Publix currently offer?

As of now, Publix is booking appointments for the Moderna (2 shots) and the Johnson & Johnson (single shot) COVID-19 vaccines. They are very transparent on their website about what days they are able to schedule which shots - so you can ultimately choose which vaccine to get.
Mondays at 7 a.m.: Booking opens for Moderna vaccines for Wed-Friday that week.
Wednesdays at 7 a.m.: Bookings open for Johnson & Johnson vaccines for Saturday and Sunday that weekend.
Fridays at 7 a.m.: Bookings open for Moderna vaccines for Monday-Tuesday the next week.
How user-friendly is the Publix portal?
The Publix portal is super easy to use. I got on at 7 a.m. to book the Moderna vaccine. At the top of the page, it will tell you if you are waiting or if you are able to book. If you're able to book a big "Book an Appointment" button will appear, otherwise, it will inform you that you are waiting and the page will automatically refresh every 60 seconds.
I waited approximately five minutes to get the "Book an Appointment" button to appear on my screen. At that time, I clicked the button and it took me to a new portal for the appointment. I selected my county and then the public I preferred from the list provided.
After that, the website generates an appointment for you. You do not get to choose the day or time at this point, which was fine in my situation (though I know that my fiance had to take a few hours off work to go get the vaccine at his given time). The website will hold the appointment for you for 20 minutes while you fill out the information.
They ask for basic information and any allergies you may have had in the past as a pre-screening. After that, they book your appointment and email you confirmation. If you schedule the Moderna vaccine, they book your first and second shot for you.
Overall, the Publix portal was very easy to use, and I would highly recommend using their booking website.
