If you live in Marietta, you are no doubt aware that we have needed a fine dining restaurant well, forever. And now, we have it in the Cherokee Chophouse. Cherokee Chophouse is part of the Marietta Family Restaurants Group, owned by renown restauranteur Gus Tselios Yes, this was the old Cherokee Cattle Company, but it has been completely transformed from what is once was.
Upon entering there's a gorgeous domed ceiling with a gorgeous lighting fixture. Beyond that, there are gorgeous red tufted booths that are large enough for groups of four yet, lovely for cozying up to your sweetie, which is exactly what I did. Ordinarily I wouldn't be a fan of sitting in the bar area, but it feels so glamorous, I loved it. Still, there's plenty of seating in the main dining room, along a smaller private dining area and come the summer a fun patio!
House cocktails are well made too and though prices of wine tend to be through the roof these days, I appreciated that Cherokee Chophouse wines by the glass are reasonable at just 12 or 13 bucks.
As you may have come to expect everything is bigger at Marietta Family Restaurants, but everything here is cooked to perfection. For seafood lovers, especially if you have a group order the calamari and the Ahi Tuna. Not only is the presentation beautiful, but so delicious. I love that the calamari is pure calamari not filler like fried peppers. I wouldn't hesitate to order the Ahi tuna on a return visit either, with that slightly wasabi sauce. If you're a meat person, the bacon and beef carpaccio are stellar. And they aren't stingy with their servings either.
Can't decide which cut of steak you want? Get the mixed grill with skirt steak, filet AND lamb chops. Not only does this dish have it all, but it is cut table side so you don't even have to fight with the bone. Pictured below is the Kansas City Strip. The quality of steak is supreme. Bite after bit is juicy and flavorful. I'm already planning a return visit for Prime Rib.
We had the kindest server, Sam. She was patient with us while we figured out what to get and made excellent recommendations for drinks, steaks and dessert. Speaking of dessert the chocolate cake was to die for. I'm glad we opted for that instead of our go to - cheesecake or key lime pie.
Cherokee Chophouse is open every day but Monday from 4 - 11 pm. Visit their website to see the menu here: www.CherokeeChophouse.com
