Maky & Matt

Bali is a green paradise full of mind-blowing waterfalls, breathtaking rice fields, and hidden beaches, and even after 4 years here, every time we jump on the scooter and just wandering around we find another amazing spot we didn’t even know exist!

Trips to do in Bali

Even though we think the best way how to explore this wonderful Island is jumping on the scooter/bike/car and just aimlessly drive and find your fairy tale, I know it can be hard and time-consuming so I will give you our tips!:)

  • 1) Hidden gem 50 minutes from Canggu Bali

Waterfall Sing Sing Angin where you would unsuccessfully look for any other tourist, no entrance fee and it’s surrounded by marvelous rice fields. It’s as good as it sounds!

  • 2) Sangeh monkey forest Bali

Not as known as Ubud monkey forest and that’s the good thing! Sangeh Forest is a huge beautiful forest full of monkeys and wonderful nature but not full of tourist :) The entrance fee is much cheaper 15 k IDR (1.5 AUD) compare to the one in Ubud and monkeys are not that cheeky and mean :))

  • 3) Bali white water rafting

One of our favorite things to do in Bali! So much fun, scenic views all around you, a little bit of adrenalin, food, water, showers... Everything included in price. Such a great way how to explore the Bali jungle and well spend the day!

  • 4) Pengempu waterfall Bali + swing on the river

No entrance fee, haven’t met any other people there! Beautiful secluded waterfall and there is a swing on the river which makes it just the perfect trip for a sunny day ♥

  • 5) Pasut Beach Bali with Instagram famous palm tree

40 minutes drive from Canggu is a wide black sand beach with hard sand perfect for driving your bike and YES this is the beach witch the iconic palm tree you have seen on all those Instagram photos!:) And for those with monkey skills, there is one unique palm tree:) HOW TO GET TO PASUT BEACH BALI/Pantai Pasut.

Pasut Beach is around 30 minutes from Tanah Lot Temple up north. From Canggu where we were based it takes around an hour scooter ride through local villages and rice fields.

Once you get there you will find a shiny black sandy beach, locals having so much fun driving their bikes up and down in the sand, and hundreds of palm trees. But mainly on the right side, there is the uniquely shaped palm tree.

  • 6) Berawa Beach

Berawa beach is the biggest beach in Canggu, a great spot for beginners and intermediate surfers, or just the place to hang out with your friends, getting the Bali sun in on sunbeds, and having a cold young coconut with lime. And maybe some snacks too.

We found this beach totally by chance! We were just driving around, escaping from the crowds of Canggu and enjoying the scooter ride when we stumbled upon this hidden beach.

There are no tourists, no entrance fee nor parking fee. You can just park your bike on the side of the road and carefully climb down around 20 stairs and that’s it!

But keep in your mind to check the tide before, this beach exists only at low tide!:)

Nyang Nyang Beach is for Bali surprisingly very clean, wide, and long white sandy beach located in South of Bali called Bukit. Not just that this beach is so tidy and feels almost empty but you can find here these colorful shipwrecks. Does it already sound to you like the best beach in Bali?:) ↡

Drive your scooter or rent a car/with a driver to the very south of Bali – Bukit.

The parking fee is 2,000 IDR and then the walk down to Nyang Nyang beach begins.

Get ready for around 20 minutes walk down, preferably in better shoes than just flip flops and a lot of water. The trek down is rocky, slippery, and steep but the sweat will be worth the experience at the end! You will get on the best Uluwatu beach with white sand and crystal clear water. Waves are comfortable for swimming and the beach goes forever so we bet you will find your spot for sunbathing.

Colorful abandoned boat shipwrecks are usually the biggest attraction for tourists and provide an awesome Instagram photo. But don’t forget you will need a big portion of energy on the way up again!:)

  • 9) Nung Nung Waterfall Bali

Another favorite waterfall of ours with a swing near the car park. The huge swing is overlooking the deep jungle and is a great photo spot too.
The waterfall entrance fee is 15k IDR and the swing is 50k IDR.

  • 10) Pucak swing and Lake Ulun Danau Bali

Whole day trip to the north of Bali where you can buy fresh strawberries on the hill, feed wild monkeys, discover viewpoints on Twins Lake and if you want to have some photos with jungle, choose the Pucak swing. For entrance 100k IDR you can try many birds nets, huge swing, and other pictures spot overlooking the wild nature of Bali.

  • 11) Mount Batur sunrise hike Bali plus drive around

You need to get up early, you need to hike around 50 minutes before sunrise BUT we promise it will worth it! The view you will get to see just leave you without breath and with big respect for Mother Nature. You can try steam egg for breakfast cooked in volcanic steam in front of you and on the way home explore a little bit of surrounding area full of mandarins, lakes, and volcanic rocks.
