Sitting on top of wooden pilings just feet above the mighty waters

of the Piscataqua River on U.S. Route 1 in Kittery, Maine is the famous Warren’s Lobster House, a perfect place to enjoy huge portions of flavorful and perfectly-cooked seafood. This fantastic seafood restaurant looks exactly like what it is, looking at it from the outside. The kind of restaurant that hasn't changed much in more than seventy years.

Warren’s Lobster House opened in 1940 and for more than three-quarters of a century has continued to reliably serve delicious meals to millions of wonderful patrons. The inside is all wood paneling and Formica, comfortable dining chairs, and a super laid-back atmosphere. The massive menu covers more than what you’d expect it to cover, featuring expensive and inexpensive menu items.

Warren’s is the place to go if you’re looking for a bit of nostalgia, an amazing atmosphere, and great food. They’re committed to serving only the highest quality foods in the most appetizing and professional manner possible. People travel long distances to experience Warren’s. Their much talked about salad bar features over 60 items including freshly prepared soup, bakery-fresh rolls, their famous pumpkin, crisp veggies, and a ton of pasta salads, potato salad, and all the salad trimmings you can imagine.

Every entree comes with a choice of potato, fries, or cooked vegetables, and the enormous soup and salad bar. Fries are hot, crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Captain Warren’s favorite comprises great meal options like the lobster stuffed haddock; lobster meat stuffing and hollandaise sauce. Vacationland is their best-selling ‘double stuffed’ lobster roll, a cup of homemade clam chowder, three lagoons, fries, and Seacost’s finest salad bar. Deserts include baked Indian pudding, grape nut custard pudding, and more.

Warren’s has come a long way from that tiny, six-stool lobster stand in the days of 25-cent per pound lobster to today Warren’s 350-seat restaurant that houses a full-service bakery, the Captain’s Treasure Chest Gift Shop, the Lobster Trap Lounge, and a lobster pound capable of holding thousands of pounds of the delicious crustaceans.

They’ve made some careful alterations to Warren’s over the years, but most things are still the same and always will be as they are committed to not losing touch with the quality and small, personal touches that made the place unique. Though they’ve added some new items, the menu still features the popular old classics that made the place famous.

It’s amazing to eat fresh seafood a few yards from the bay. Their regular lobster roll is perfectly prepared with lots of meat. You’d think it contains more than a pound of lobster meat. Their soup of the day is delicious. It comes with cheese and crackers. Their cold lobster roll, haddock sandwich, and salad bar are all wonderful. The lobster Rangoon is crispy and well-filled.
