Saint Petersburg, FL

This Family Owned Restaurant is One Of St Petersburg’s Legendary Eateries

The menu selection should serve any taste, but their specialty is the Chattaburger, one of the best burgers in town.

Established in 1951 by Jillian Frers originally from England, the Chattaway is part of the local institution in St Petersburg. It has a beautiful outdoor oasis and a relaxing ambiance that contributes to giving guests an exceptional dining experience.

Local music talent is featured several nights a week on a quaint shiny little stage with an Old Florida tropical atmosphere. Fire Pits are lit on cooler nights adding to the beauty of this already unique setting. Everything is put together to give dinners a memorable time at the Chattaway.

The restaurant is a very laid-back little place with a simple menu and a relaxing atmosphere. While you wait for your orders, the live music from the patio plays on. The menu consists of a variety of dainty sandwiches, including thinly sliced cucumber sandwiches, scones or crumpets, clotted cream and preserves, desserts, and unlimited English tea. That’s not to forget the award-winning burgers which are the all-time favorites for the locals.

This family-owned and operated restaurant is one restaurant you won’t soon forget. The menu selection should serve any taste, but their specialty is the Chattaburger, one of the best burgers in town. The grouper sandwich and chicken wings are awesomely tasty. The waitress is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.

The Chattaway is a part of St. Pete’s Old Florida historical section of town for decades and has a large volume of regulars. It’s a place where you can relax and enjoy award-winning burgers and alfresco dining in a beautiful tropical garden setting.

This family-owned restaurant offers a slower pace than other restaurants in St. Pete. It features indoor and outdoor seating, brightly colored patios, and decor that brings you back to previous decades.

The founder, Jillian Frers shares her heritage in the inside dining room where “Afternoon tea” is served. Her children and grandchildren all share in the running of the restaurant. The staff is their extended family.

One of the biggest surprises of all is a trip indoors that feels like you’re stepping off the boat into a genuine English Tea Room. This place is one you won’t soon forget! It’s been a part of the community in one form or another for a long time. And so the tradition continues albeit with a bit of a British flair.
