Big Chicken fuses O’Neal’s home-cooked childhood favorites with today’s trending flavors. Each menu item tells a story while offering guests an inside look into the life and personality of O’Neal.
Big Chicken has been the talk of the town since its debut in Las Vegas in 2018. Backed by the 7’1 former NBA star and partners, the fast-growing restaurant has expanded rapidly across the U.S. since its establishment in 2018.
Fans of the chain across the U.S. long for a taste of some of the yummy items on the Big Chicken menu, especially the much talked about Nashville hot chicken sandwich called the Uncle Jerome, named after O’Neal’s bodyguard.
No specifics were given when it was announced last April that Big Chicken will open in Florida, but now we have more information. Big Chicken is opening in Orlando in late 2023. The Big brand will open in Orlando at 250 E. Michigan Street, in late 2023.
Big Chicken was founded in 2018 and backed by partners that include, JRS Hospitality, a successful Las Vegas-based ownership group, and Authentic Brands Group, a multinational, multi-billion dollar brand development. O’Neal opened the first Big Chicken in Las Vegas in 2018, located near the Virgin Hotel. The chain has since then expanded to other states across the U.S.
Big Chicken offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, sliders, and tenders. There’s also the big and sloppy which consists of a fried chicken slab, mac and cheese, crispy fried onions, and roasted garlic bbq aioli. But the yummy experience is never complete until you try Shaq’s signature Sammy, the Shaq attack, featuring fried chicken with pepper jack cheese, jalapeño slaw, and spicy chipotle bbq sauce.
Guests like to order a Nashville hot chicken sandwich called the Uncle Jerome, named for O’Neal’s bodyguard. Those who are super hungry can also opt for the Charles Barkley, a fried chicken sandwich loaded with mac and cheese, crispy fried onions, and roasted garlic barbecue aioli. Customers can also order crispy chicken sandwiches and tenders, along with Cheez-It crusted mac n’ cheese and hand-crafted ice cream shakes.
Sides include French fries, sweet potato fries, and mac and cheese modeled after the side made by Lucille O’Neal, Shaq’s mom.
Apart from its arena locations, Big Chicken also has restaurants open in Las Vegas, Paradise Road, Tropicana Avenue, Los Angeles (Glendale and Valencia), Seattle, in the Dayton, Ohio region, on three Carnival Cruise ships, and more.
As Shaq’s first Big Chicken restaurant prepares to open in Orlando this year, fans of the chain should expect more openings after that. Plans are afoot to open over forty locations across Florida.
