Louisiana is host to more than 400 festivals throughout the year. Everything from Jazz to Crawfish to Italian Heritage, plus a whole lot more, is celebrated in our colorful state. The annual Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival happens every year in mid-April during strawberry season.

This year's event will take place beginning on Friday, April 14, and last through Sunday, April 16, in Memorial Park, 301 North 6th Street. Gates are open from 12 pm to 11 pm on Friday, from 9 am to 11 pm on Saturday, and from 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday.

The Strawberry Festival Parade will start at 9:30 am Saturday at the Ponchatoula Lions Club located at 750 East Pine Street. It will travel 10 blocks through the center of Downtown Ponchatoula and end at the Kiwanis Park on South 7th Street.

History of the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival

Ponchatoula, Louisiana, is known as the Strawberry Capital of the World.

The very first Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival was organized by the area Chamber of Commerce and the Ponchatoula Jaycees in combination with local community members. Held in April of 1972, it featured 11 booths and a small parade and drew an estimated crowd of 15,000 people. Today, the festival has blossomed into a giant event that attracts over 300,000 people annually.

What does the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival have to offer?

The festival features rides, a strawberry eating contest, and an egg toss. Over 40 booths manned by non-profits from across the area will offer delicious foods and strawberry-themed delicacies like Strawberry Shortcake and Strawberry Daiquiris for sale.

Live music is performed on two stages every day of the festival. This year's lineup includes:

  • Clay Cormier & The Highway Boys
  • 3rd Street Band
  • Souled Out
  • Yeah Your Right Band
  • Lindsey Cardinale
  • Parish County Line
  • Thomas Cain
  • Dukes of Country
  • The Phunky Monkeys
  • Will Vance
  • Peyton Falgoust Band
  • Tyler Kinchen & The Right Pieces

plus many more.

This free event is fun for all ages.
