Arturo Moreno is an American entrepreneur and owner of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Moreno's parents immigrated from Mexico. However, he was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He is the oldest of 11 children. His father owned a print shop in Tucson, so Arturo grew up working with his father and learning the art of marketing.
He is an army veteran.
He graduated from high school in 1965 and joined the army during the Vietnam War before graduating from the University of Arizona on the G.I. Bill with a degree in marketing in 1973.
Armed with his marketing degree, he worked at Eller Outdoor Advertising company. Then, tired from traveling across the country, he settled in Phoenix and found a job with Outdoor Systems Billboard company. He took the company public in 1996 and was one of the most successful IPOs of the late 1990s. The IPO raised more than $37 million that Moreno used to acquire other billboard companies throughout the country.

In 1999, he sold his outdoor advertising company for more than $8 billion. He also sold his 5% share ownership of the Arizona Diamondbacks in November 2002.
Arturo Moreno became the first Mexican American to own a professional sports team in the United States when he bought the Los Angeles Angels in 2003, a few months after the team won the World Series championship.
