Marian Ilitch is an American billionaire businesswoman and the co-founder of Little Caesars Pizza, the owner of Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings.

Marian Ilitch was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. As a young girl, she worked at her father's restaurant filling salt and pepper shakers. After graduating from Dearborn Community College with a liberal arts degree, she worked at SS Kresge in Dearborn. She later worked as a reservation clerk for Delta Airlines in Detroit, where she met her husband, Mike Ilitch.

The couple invested their life savings in opening a small pizza store called Little Caesar in Garden City, Michigan, in 1959. Three years later, they franchised their first store, and soon after, the company became the fastest-growing pizza chain in the country. In 1969, they expanded across the border into Canada, and today they operate in all 50 states and 18 countries.

The family purchased the Detroit Red Wings for $8 million and Detroit Tigers for $85 million.

In the 1960s and 1970s, the Red Wings were going through unstable times, and the team was ranked last in their division. So, the Ilitch family was ready to buy the Red Wings from the Norris Family for $8 Million in 1982 and improved the team immediately. Since then, the team has won four Stanley Cup championships.

The family also owns Detroit Tigers, a team that her husband, Mike Ilitch, bought for $85 million in 1992. By 2022, the team value has reached $1.4 billion.

The family invested in many properties in Detroit, such as acquiring the Fox Theater building in 1987, MotorCity Casino in 1999, and many other projects around Detroit.
