Another Nike vet making big moves ... former Jordan Brand CMO to become global chief brand officer at Taco Bell

Taco Bell did it.

Looking to revamp their brand image and improve their consumer experience, Taco Bell hired the former Chief Marketing Officer of Nike’s Jordan Brand, Sean Tresvant, as their global chief brand officer.

In that role, Tresvant will lead transformational brand marketing efforts, from omnichannel initiatives to digital customer touchpoints, effective January 10, 2022.

Taco Bell said in a statement, "Tresvant will lead Taco Bell into a new age of transformative global marketing, spearheading boundary-pushing, multi-dimensional efforts that drive culture, initiate change, and create impact. From strategic omnichannel initiatives to digital customer touchpoints, he will further elevate and differentiate the Taco Bell fan experience as the brand continues redefining innovation in its industry."

Tresvant defined the Jordan Brand voice across the world. He led the execution of brand campaigns, athlete sponsorships, product marketing, creative collaborations, and social platforms. According to his LinkedIn profile, Tresvant earned his MBA from Seattle University and worked at Pepsi and Time Inc. before landing a job at Nike in 2017. In 2020, he became the Jordan Brand Chief Marketing Officer.

In a statement, Tresvant described Taco Bell as a "marketing powerhouse of trailblazers." He added that “The brand and its people are constantly — and consciously — pushing the limits on what it means to be a brand in today’s rapidly evolving culture, and I’m excited to revolutionize alongside them."

As a social justice and community impact leader, he led the Diversity Task Force and helped bring back the Jordan Brand's Black Community Commitment Committee. He is also a member of the Black Executive CMO Alliance (BECA). In addition, Taco Bell acknowledged Tresvant as an impact leader and said, "Like Taco Bell, Tresvant is committed to social justice and community impact initiatives."

Taco Bell ended their statement by saying, "Additional career highlights for Tresvant include leading an Emmy Award-winning Last Dance Documentary for Jordan Brand and developing and facilitating a Fortnite activation with Epic Games."

Few things I'm looking forward to:

  1. Will Tresvant be able to improve Taco Bell's digital revenue?
  2. Will he partner with athletes and online influencers?
  3. Will he embed the brand with gaming platforms?
  4. Will Tresvant improve the company's online ordering system?
