The annual rib and jazz fest will be happening in Columbus in 2022 for the first time in 2 years. It was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to health concerns in the COVID-19 pandemic. When it returns in 2022, it will happen from July 22-24. When the festival was originally canceled in 2020, it was thought to return in 2021. Since the pandemic has continued, even at a slightly decreased level, this mass gathering had to be postponed for the second year in a row.
Titled Columbus Recreation and Parks’ Jazz & Rib Fest BBQ Week, the fest celebrated the grilled, smoked, and pit roasted foods, restaurants, tap rooms, and food trucks. Mayor Andrew Ginther says he is excited to bring back summer traditions safely in 2022 since 2021 has been challenging as well.
Specials during the BBQ week are from $10 to $40 and can be just for one person, a shared meal, a multi-course meal, or a meal kit. Some of the restaurants there will be 3 Flame BBQ, B&K Smoke House, Beyond the Brix, Bristol Republic, Can’t Believe It’s Vegan, G’s Flavor House, Jack Ruby’s Barbecue Company, and many others. There will even be a gift card giveaway at the festival. To sign up, all you have to do is provide the BBQ Week website with your name, address, city, date of birth, phone number, and email.
To be eligible you have to be from the participating counties of Crawford, Hardin, Marion, Morrow, Knox, Coshocton, Guernsey, Union, Delaware, Licking, Madison, Franklin, Fairfield, Perry, Morgan, Fayette, Pickaway, Hocking, Athens, Ross, and Pike.
Many of the restaurants at the BBQ Week will be the prize providers. You must be 18 years of age, enter from July 19th to July 23th, and you may only enter once. The drawing dates are on July 19th, 2oth, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. The prizes will be gift cards from restaurants at the festivals.
