According to the staff at ICON Park in Orlando on International Drive, Tyre Sampson age 14 was properly seated and locked in like every other rider at that time.

In many online photos, we can clearly see that Tyre’s harness was up much higher than those around him which is a clear indication that he was NOT properly locked in the Orlando FreeFall Ride. He noticed when the ride started to ascend, that his harness was not locked and he told his friends near him “tell my mommy and daddy I love them” which again lets us know that something was terribly wrong.

Once the ride slowed down, Tyre fell 230 feet to the ground where an audience of shocked and terrified park visitors witnessed the horrific scene. He was still breathing after impact, but not responsive. He also suffered broken limbs and his feet were bleeding according to witnesses. 911 was called and the ambulance took about 10 minutes to arrive. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

This park is covering up the truth about this young man’s death. There’s no way that his harness could have been properly locked, or else he would still be here today. Their blatant lies are a complete and total disregard for the family. Where will we draw the line?

We believe that after this incident, all amusement park ride operators should be at least 21 years of age and go through rigorous training and testing on all safety standards and procedures for the ride that they are responsible for. Sampson’s Law maybe?

It’s just a sad story from beginning to end. A bright, young, intelligent football player on his way to high school, lost his life due to negligence. It’s just not fair. I hope that one day we can see some reform in the entertainment/amusement park world. Rest In Peace Tyre and love, peace, and condolences to his family and friends.
