The latest update in this story: The latest on the serious drunk driving crash on Cliff Road in Eagan

We continue to work on getting the official details from the Eagan Police Department on the serious injury accident that occurred at Slater Road and Cliff Road in Eagan, Minnesota, just before 10 PM on March 26, 2023. The Eagan Police Department has confirmed that Scott Andrew Kahnke was arrested after the incident. While the Eagan Police Department has not publicly confirmed this was a fatal accident, his initial charges show Vehicular Homicide and DUI, the serious accident last night at Cliff Road and Slater Road. According to his arrest records provided by the Eagan Police Department and Dakota County Jail, Kahnke is currently being charged with two felony counts, one gross misdemeanor and a misdemeanor, following the accident. The following are his charges:

  • Probable Cause Criminal Vehicular Homicide - Alcohol Concentration 0.08 or more within 2 hours of driving -FELONY
  • Criminal Vehicular Operation - Great Bodily Harm - Alcohol Concentration 0.08 or more within 2 hours of driving - FELONY
  • Traffic DUI - Third-Degree driving while impaired, one aggravating factor - Gross Misdemeanor
  • Fleeing a Peace Officer by means of other than a motor vehicle - Misdemeanor

He is in court tomorrow at noon at the Dakota County Jail in Hastings, Minnesota. Kahnke is currently being held without bond. As more information is made available, we will post additional updates. You can find our original story about this serious accident here:

Vehicle fire causes travel headache during evening commute in Eagan, Minnesota

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - Just before 5:30 PM on Monday, May 16, 2023, a vehicle fire was reported on southbound I-35E in Eagan, Minnesota, near Yankee Doodle Road and Pilot Knobb Road, during the middle of rush hour that caused some travel headaches for the evening commute on Monday. Apple Valley Fire Department responds to trash fire

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Just before 7 AM on May 3, 2023, a call came into the Dakota County Dispatch for a vehicle fire at the Applebee's located off Cedar Ave in Apple Valley, Minnesota. The source of the vehicle fire was trash in the back of a DSI garbage truck that had caught fire. Quick thinking by the driver of the garbage truck saved the truck after he safely dumped the trash load that was on fire in the middle of the parking lot behind Applebee's and in front of the Five Guys. The driver of the truck did not have any reported injuries as a result of the fire.
