TWIN CITIES - The Twin Cities came together this afternoon to honor Inver Grove Heights Police Officer and Veteran Ben Bidon, who suffered a medical emergency on Friday, April 28, 2023. Officer Bidon would later pass from that medical emergency on Sunday, April 30th. Several local and regional police, fire, and medical personnel came to honor Office Bidon.
In a post made by the Inver Grove Heights Police Department on their Facebook, they state Officer Bidon started his career with the department back on May 13, 2015, after serving in the United States Army from 2005 to 2009. We served a 14-month tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Airborne Riger Force Unit. During his time with the Army, Officer Bidon received the following recognition:

- Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
- Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star
- Army Service Ribbon
- Overseas Service Ribbon
- Combat Infantryman Badge

- Air Assault Badge
- Driver and Mechanic Badge
During his time with the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, Officer Bidon he served as a crime scene technician, field training officer, firearms and use of force instructor, SWAT operator, and was the team lead for the investigation unit. According to the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, Officer Ben was honored with a lifesaving award in 2020 and the Chief's Award of Merit in 2022.
Officer Ben Bidon is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their three daughters, Addison, Evelyn, and Eleanor who he loved very much.
