(Los Angeles, CA) - Nearly $100 for a full seafood platter?

That's the question I asked myself when faced with the seafood options at San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant. A forty-five minutes drive from the center of Los Angeles in San Pedro, California.

One of the most well-known restaurants and fish markets in California, The San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant serves up some of the freshest and best-tasting seafood in Southern California.

It's family-owned and operated and has been serving seafood for 60 years - and a lot.

On average, 20,000 people dine there weekly, and they serve 200-300 lbs of seafood per month in peak season.

At $99, the price of this seafood feast may seem a little steep. But does it compare to the value for money you’re getting here? Let’s take a closer look.

When I first saw this picture of their seafood feast, my first thought was, “that looks like way too much food for one.”

After some digging and some research, it seems that $99 for this seafood platter is a pretty good deal, considering you can build your own tray.

Let me make this clear — as they tell you on the website:

Our Seafood Feast tray is not for the faint of heart.

You can end up with a mountain of shrimp, salmon, mussels, scallops, calamari, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes.

The seafood is tossed with their savory seafood seasoning.

When it comes to lobster, they are one of the highlights. The grilled fish is excellent and as fresh as you'd expect as they also own the seafood market, straight off the boat in the early hours of the morning.

Scoop up the garlic butter from your bread with the lobster tail. As the breeze comes in from the ocean, you are in seafood heaven.

Ordering Tips

  • Grab a seat first out front and then go inside to order your tray
  • Waiting times for orders can be longer on the weekend
  • To pick exactly which seafood goes on your plate, stand in the seafood counter line
  • Go for the huge lobster tail and scallops
  • The $100 platter can easily feed two people or more. There is no doubt that this dish serves 3 or 4, maybe even 5 if you’re not huge seafood eaters or for children.
  • Bring your appetite!

A Seafood Lovers Day Trip from Los Angeles

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good piece of seafood, and all that comes with it. Seafood is my favorite, but shelling out nearly $100 bucks for a platter of seafood?

Yes, the price of this dish is a lot at $99, but remember the portion size and consider the fact that this could be 2 to 3 meals if portioned accordingly.

Unless, of course, you are starving and want to eat it yourself. And I don't blame you; the fresh seafood is second to none. This is no ordinary seafood platter.

If you love seafood, it is an easy day trip from Los Angeles - about a 45- to 50-minute drive from the center of Los Angeles.
