NASHVILLE, TN – Demetria Kalodimos, a well-known veteran journalist, will officially be the communication professional-in-residence in Lipscomb University’s School of Communication for the 2021-2022 academic year and will start in August.
Kalodimos stated that she is greatly looking forward to being part of the training and education of passionate undergraduates and sharing lessons she has learned from her longtime career in the field of communication and journalism.
“Educating future journalists about the state of the industry and how to navigate that well while training them to be good storytellers, utilizing the many tools they have available to them, is critical. While content delivery methods continually change, the fundamentals of good storytelling will never cease to be important. So, I am excited to be able to share my knowledge and experiences with students and to have an impact on the next generation of journalists and storytellers,” she said.
Undergraduates will be able to gain meaningful insights as well as best practices from Kalodimos as an award-winning journalist, longtime WSMV anchor with forty years of experience in this field. She also will be responsible for developing special workshops and programming, with a specific focus on digital media ethics, to enhance student’s experience in the classroom.
With her exceptional wide expertise and strong journalism and anchor skills, she has successfully snatched various prestigious awards in broadcast journalism such as 16 Emmys, three Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) National awards, three Edward R. Murrow Awards for investigative reporting as well as Gracie from American Women in Radio and Television.
Chair of Lipscomb’s School of Journalism, Alan Griggs stated that for many years he has had the pleasure and honor of working alongside Demetria Kalodimos. He also said that Kalodimos is the figure of a highly dedicated journalist with an exceptional, persistent attitude and having a high ethical standard for her expertise.
