NASHVILLE, TN – TennSMART will be the host of the I-24 MOTION Industry Forum. The event, dedicated to introducing the I-24 MOTION test bed, will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021.

The forum aims to connect the industry with The TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) and project partners to discuss and explore the potential uses of the test bed.

In 2018, The TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) presented the I-24 Smart Corridor project for the first time at the TennSMART’s spring member meeting. Convinced, the members started working together, aiming to foster a supportive environment where similar innovative research projects can succeed.

The test bed is planned to be operational by summer 2022. Through this forum, the organizer will provide participants with advanced information regarding the schedule.

In-depth discussions among the TDOT and industry partners will highlight the identification of potential collaboration opportunities, and conduct additional uses cases screening and identification.

Industry can support the projected future of I-24 MOTION by identifying the instrumentation needs beyond the ultra-high-definition camera system which is currently in progress.

The featured speakers of the event are Commissioner Clay Bright; Brad Freeze, the Director of the TDOT Traffic Operations Division; and Daniel Work, associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the Institute for Software Integrated Systems at Vanderbilt University.

Besides those notable speakers, Jonathan Sprinkle, Litton Industries John M. Leonis Distinguished Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Arizona; and Ken Butts, Executive Engineer, Electrified Vehicle Control Department, Toyota Motor North America R & D in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will also attend.

The forum agenda will begin with the remarks from TDOT Commissioner Clay Bright, followed by an "Introduction to the I-24 MOTION Test Bed" session with Brad Freeze and Dan Work.

Jonathan Sprinkle and Ken Butts will continue the discussion with the topic "Perspectives from Industry Advocates." Listening session objectives and logistics then will be hosted by Meredith Cebelak, Gresham Smith.

The end of the session will be wrapped up with networking lunch agenda. Secure your seat now at:
