NASHVILLE, TN — Dr. Deborah Watts, a Nashville business leader and higher education expert, has been appointed executive director of Spark, Lipscomb University's idea center with locations in downtown Nashville and Franklin, Tennessee.

As the university seeks to serve the Middle Tennessee community, Spark is an innovative and technologically rich learning and meeting facility that provides corporate training and education opportunities, as well as gathering and meeting spaces.

Watts is the founder and CEO of Hayde and Company, a consulting firm specializing in talent optimization. She is also a Predictive Index certified partner and the executive director and senior consultant for the Leadership Pipeline Institute.

She also assisted in the launch of the Nashville start-up America's PowerSports and is a national speaker on leadership and emotional intelligence. She has also worked with a number of local and international universities, and she is currently an adjunct professor at Trevecca Nazarene University.

Watts' new responsibilities at Spark include overseeing the operations of the two facilities, developing programming and content, cultivating corporate partnerships, and leading marketing efforts for the entity's digital content, among other things. She stated that she intends to continue looking for new and innovative ways to deliver education through Spark programming.

Watts earned a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational communication, a Master of Business Administration degree from Lipscomb University and a Doctor of Education in leadership and professional practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.

Lipscomb University opened its first Spark location in Franklin, Tennessee's Cool Springs neighborhood in 2012 and later opened a second location in downtown Nashville in September 2017, at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Commerce Street.
