NASHVILLE, TN — The Vanderbilt Commodores Baseball Team is back in the College World Series.

It returns to Omaha for its fifth College World Series appearance.

The Commodores themselves made their Omaha debut in 2011. In the process, they won national titles in 2014 and 2019 while also finished runner-up in 2015.

Vanderbilt, the #4 seed, will face Arizona, #5 seed, on Saturday (6 p.m., ESPN) in pool play. Two days later, they will also meet the #9 seed, which will be one of Stanford or North Carolina State.

This year’s team has a 45-15 record, including five straight wins in the NCAA Tournament. Despite losing both Austin Martin and JJ Bleday, the 2021 VandyBoys are still elite to the MLB draft, especially their pitching, led by two consensuses top future Major League Baseball draft pick in Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker.

Rocker (13-3) and Leiter (10-3) are both projected top-10 picks in the MLB Draft, lead a pitching staff that has allowed 5.97 hits per nine innings — the lowest in the NCAA by a wide margin. Leiter (156) and Rocker (155) also rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in strikeouts.

There will be two fan events, Saturday (June 19) and Monday (June 21).

During the first fan event on Saturday, the team welcomes all fans to attend the team sendoff at the Doubletree Downtown Omaha hotel as the team departs for TD Ameritrade Park Omaha. There will also be a Commodore Tailgate with fellow alumni, parents, families, and friends for two hours before the first pitch at the Omaha Baseball Village at the Old Mattress Factory.

The fan meeting itself includes a buffet and non-alcoholic beverage and a cash bar. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for children.

Meanwhile, on Monday, there will be only a team sendoff at the hotel. You can join the event at the same hotel as the team departs to the ballpark for their second game.

For viewers watching at Nashville, you can join fellow Commodore supporters around Nashville at any of the Corner Pub’s five locations:

Franklin, Brentwood— the premier location for the Arizona game, Cool Springs, Bellevue and Downtown Nashville. There will be VandyBoys specials on the menu.
