The other night started like any other. My husband and I told two of our adult children, who live with us, goodnight. Then we went to our room to watch a movie and go to bed. Around midnight I heard a slight commotion in the living room, so I got up and went to investigate.
I found my son laughing outside of his sister's bedroom door. I asked what was so funny, and he told me to sit on the couch and quietly watch. My son then quietly stepped back into his bedroom and partially shut the door.
Outside our daughter's room, the cat jumped up on the piano and began to play with our daughter's doorknob. First, the cat would put both front paws on the doorknob and try to turn the knob to open the door. Then, when that didn't work, the cat began to tap her foot on the door as if she was knocking. Our daughter texted her brother that someone was trying to break into her room and he would he please investigate.
Our son texted her back that he would check. This was when I walked into the living room. I went to our daughter's door and told her it was me. I then opened her door and had her come and see the cat on the piano. I quietly took her to the couch with me to sit and watch; sure enough, the cat did it again.
Our daughter burst into laughter. She was greatly relieved that no one was trying to break into her room and scare her. Finally, everyone returned to bed; it was an uneventful night for the remainder of the night. Now, we just have to figure out how to get the cat to stop playing with her doorknob at night.
