National Working Moms Day

2022-03-12

In 2017 a working mom needed some support. She had been talking with other moms who worked and realized that there is a huge need for a group that helps these women. Thus, the National Working Moms Day was formed. Working Moms Of Milwaukee launched their campaign to start drumming up some support for working moms of all kinds.

What It’s All About

As an annual event, these moms get together and discuss issues that are important to moms of all ages. Moms who work outside of the home, in the home, remotely, part-time, full-time, or simply raising their children can join in and celebrate National Working Moms Day.

Communities, employers, corporations, small local businesses, even dads can all get involved and offer support. They can network with one another, employers, businesses, and others in their various fields. Connections can be made that help other moms cope with issues that often crop up in their daily lives.

We all know that “someone” who just seems to have all the energy, great work ethic, and is always prepared. Connecting with people like this can further every mom's goal and help them to be even more productive and encouraging to others.

What Do Working Moms Need?

Working moms need compassion and encouragement. They need support from their spouses, significant others, friends, family, neighbors, employers, and others. All moms are working moms regardless of whether they’re working outside of the home full or part-time, stay-at-home moms, or some combination thereof. Sadly, society judges moms so harshly. Sometimes it seems that a mom can’t win if she works outside of the home full or part-time. Yet, the stay-at-home moms are judged as well.

The truth is that both types of moms are working moms. Every mom is a working mom. Moms who can work outside of the home aren’t any better or less than moms who are stay-at-home moms. Some stay-at-home moms must stay at home due to their children’s needs.

The goal of celebrating National Working Moms Day is to remind us that every mom is a working mom. It doesn’t matter if she works outside of the home or not, she’s still a working mom. Motherhood, in and of itself, presents many challenges to women.

Unfortunately, society puts a lot of pressure on women to “do it all”. Women are judged harshly regardless of which choice they make. National Working Moms Day should serve to remind us that to function as a society as a whole, we must have both types of moms.

Working Outside The Home Vs. At Home Moms

Many women choose to put their careers on hold while they stay home raising their children. Some of these women have degrees in high-paying career fields that would astound the average person. Some women will open daycares or work in daycare centers to remain with their children as long as possible.

Moms who work outside of the home still have a lot of responsibility at home. They typically come home and cook a meal for their family. They may check homework and ensure that everything is ready for the next day. They may have to throw in a load of laundry and wait for it to dry and fold.
