One of the first things I saw when watching Ralston is how much he loves to block. There were many instances of him peeling off to take on a defensive end setting an edge and not just moving him, but blowing the end back or onto the ground. Unafraid to take on the bigger players, Ralston as a lead blocker is violent and in one instance took on two defenders at once and won. He will shed his first block and look for another block to make to seal off lanes. He has soft hands in the passing game which gives him some viability at tight end and in the passing game out of the backfield. In short-yardage situations, Ralston gets low and gains tough yards, both for first downs and at the goal line. He also plays special teams and gets downfield faster than his 40 time would make one think and looks to blow up blockers and returners alike.

Dallas Cowboys declining fifth-year option on LB Leighton Vander Esch + Others on NOTICE
FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys will not pick up Leighton Vander Esch's fifth-year option for 2022, according to his agent, Ron Slavin, which will make the 2018 first-round pick an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season. Vander Esch's injury history is the biggest reason. He missed 13 games over the past two seasons, starting with a neck injury that required surgery in 2019 and cost him seven games. He missed six games in 2020 because of a broken collarbone. If the Cowboys had picked up the option, the $9.1 million would have been fully guaranteed. Before officially deciding to decline the option, executive vice president Stephen Jones said during draft weekend that the team would still like to keep Vander Esch beyond 2021 if they did not add the fifth year, but it will depend on how he plays. Vander Esch's best season came as a rookie, when he was named to the Pro Bowl after the Cowboys selected him No. 19 overall. He had a franchise-rookie-record 176 tackles in 2018

T.J. Vasher signs undrafted free agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys + MORE | UDFA
DALLAS — Texas Tech wide receiver T.J. Vasher signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys, his agency told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero Saturday. Vasher played parts of five seasons in Lubbock. He had more than 500 yards each season from 2017-2019 and finished his career with 1,983 yards and 21 touchdowns. His best season came in 2018 when he amassed 54 catches, 687 yards, and seven touchdowns, all career highs. Vasher will join his Red Raider teammate Terence Steele in Dallas. Steele started 14 games for the Cowboys last season after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. Two Texas Tech players were taken in the 2021 NFL Draft Saturday. Zech McPhearson was selected in the fourth round by the Philadelphia Eagles and Jack Anderson went in the seventh round to the Buffalo Bills.

Best defensive player This is the one the Cowboys are really hanging their hat on. It wasn’t universal, but a broad consensus of analysts had Parsons as the best defensive player in this draft. The Cowboys brass said they had Parsons graded as the top defensive player ahead of both corners. If you want your football team to somewhat stick to the “best player available” theory, and given the Cowboys desperate need for an improved defense, then this seems like a reasonable pick.

Today's featured player is Northwestern offensive tackle, Rashawn Slater. Name: Rashawn Slater Position: Offensive Tackle College: Northwestern Height/Weight: 6-4/315 Did You Know? His father, Reginald, played in the NBA for eight seasons with the Raptors, Nuggets, and Timberwolves. Where He's Projected: Slater has been pretty routinely ranked as the number two offensive tackle in the draft behind Penei Sewell. Assuming that sentiment is shared by NFL front offices, where Slater is drafted may very well be affected by where Sewell is drafted. If the Bengals decide to take Sewell with the No. 5 pick then Slater will go to the next team that wants to prioritize the long-term future of their offensive line and protect their quarterback. That boils down to him probably being drafted anywhere from the No. 6 pick to about the No. 13 pick.

Sean Lee retired Monday after the linebacker spent all of his 11 mostly injury-plagued seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. The 34-year-old said in a letter released by the club that it was "my time to walk away." Lee is eighth in team history with 995 tackles. A second-round pick out of Penn State in 2010, Lee led all NFL linebackers in interceptions through his first six seasons with 12, despite missing all of 2014 after tearing a knee ligament in the first offseason practice. Lee is fourth among Dallas linebackers with 14 interceptions and holds the club record for tackles in a game with 22 against the New York Giants in 2016, his only All-Pro season. Injuries ending up defining Lee's career. He missed the final 10 games of 2012 with a toe injury and five of the final six games the next year with hamstring and neck issues before the season-ending knee injury in the 2014 offseason.
