Alvin Bost Jr., 49, was arrested May 2 at his home in Middleburg on three charges of possession of child pornography following an investigation that started in Washington state back in October 2020, according to a Clay County arrest warrant.

These are not Bost’s first charges related to sexual misconduct. Thirty-two years ago he was convicted of attempted rape of a 13-year-old in Greensboro, N.C. according to News & Record.

Formerly employed as an internal IT manager in Middleburg, his most recent arrest follows requests he made online to a woman in Ellensburg, Wash. for naked photos of her daughter, who is about 2 years old, according to an Ellensburg police report.

Using the alias ‘Marc Halston,’ Bost initiated communication with the Ellensburg woman through an ad she posted looking for work on Craigslist and later through Facebook Messenger, according to a police report.

Bost allegedly offered the woman $3,000 to paint rooms in his house while naked, and $30,000 to record herself walking outside naked if she was seen by her neighbors.

Communicating through Facebook Messenger, Bost found out the woman had a young daughter and offered $100,000 for naked pictures of the young girl in the bathtub, according to a report by Ellensburg police.

The woman’s father contacted Ellensburg police regarding Bost’s requests, starting an investigation that spanned from October 2020 to May 2022 and involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including Homeland Security, according to the arrest warrant.

Ellensburg police obtained search warrants in October 2020 for the records associated with Bost’s Facebook account and the Craigslist ad. The Craigslist ad was associated with the email “marc.halston00@gmail.com,” and police obtained another warrant for the information associated with the Gmail account.

“On more than one occasion, the suspect would specifically request nude images of young female minors in exchange for money,” wrote Ellensburg police after reviewing email conversations on the Gmail account. “From the content of some emails, it appeared that some of the images sent to the suspect were of underage females.”

Bost allegedly used Craigslist to find women who were looking for work and initiate communication with them, according to police. Bost began requesting nude photographs from some of the women he messaged, and later nude images of children, wrote police.

A search warrant of the Facebook account Bost allegedly used to communicate with the Ellensburg women revealed conversations with other women where Bost allegedly attempted to solicit more child pornography, according to Ellensburg police.

“Some of these females in fact sent nude images of underage children to the suspect through Facebook,” wrote police.

Police obtained the IP address where the account was used, revealing that “Marc Halston” subscribed to Comcast and Joytel Wireless, leading the investigation across the country to Florida.

Comcast provided law enforcement with Bost’s subscriber information, including his name and address, according to police.. A search of Bost’s name also revealed he was listed on LinkedIn as the internal IT manager at Sissine’s Business Solutions, the warrant said. Michal Munz, a public relations representative from Sissine’s Business Solutions, told NewsBreak that Bost has not worked for them since 2021.

Further investigation revealed Bost used multiple spelling variations of the alias ‘Marc Halston,’ which authorities concluded was a fake name.

Law enforcement obtained a warrant and searched Bost’s house in February 2021, seizing his electronic devices, according to News4Jax. Authorities found files containing child pornography, according to the warrant.

Bost was subsequently arrested May 2 and released on bail of $300,009 on May 3 with a special condition of his release being that he was not allowed to access the Internet, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

News4Jax reported May 3 that a background check showed Bost was convicted of attempted rape in North Carolina 32 years ago.

Found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl in Greensboro, N.C. when he was 17, Bost was sentenced to three years for attempted rape and a two-year suspended sentence for breaking and entering the girl’s house, according to the Greensboro newspaper, News & Record.

The judge also ordered Bost to undergo a mental health exam “specifically directed toward sexual dysfunction,” wrote News & Record.

Bost was in high school when he was first convicted. He befriended the girl he would later rape when she was 10 or 11 years old, according to News & Record.

“The girl told a jury [...] that Bost had forced his way into her house on the morning of July 27 1989. She had earlier told Bost she wanted to break off their friendship, because of his talk about sex,” read a News & Record article from 1990.

Almost 32 years after his conviction, Bost faces more charges related to sexual misconduct.

Currently, Bost’s court date is set for June 6 at 9 a.m. at the Clay County Courthouse.
