Celebrate Father's Day in style: fun ideas for the Perfect Weekend in Chicago

Lashaunta Moore

Here's how your dad can enjoy Father's Day in the beautiful city of Chicago.

They're our providers. Our protectors. Our superheroes.

Fathers play an imperative, impactful role in our lives, and every year in June, we get to show our appreciation. Remember being a little kid, gifting your dad a card, mug, or hat your mom helped you purchase?

It wasn't much, but it was the thought that counted. No city celebrates holidays like Chicago, and I must say, we're elite when it comes to having fun. With the weather warming our skin, here's how you can celebrate your father while enjoying everything the Windy City offers.

F— Freebies

If you didn't know, many franchise stores give away free items on national holidays. Your dad just might be able to get a free donut or something! So make sure you check it out!

A— Architecture + Sightseeing cruise

It's hard to stay away from water when it's warm in Chicago. Navy Pier has a lot of different cruises you can take your father on!

T— Team games (basketball, tennis)

Sometimes, parents want to spend time with their children, especially when they're adults and no longer live in the same household. Challenge him to a fun, competitive game of basketball, tennis, golf, or whatever sport you all love.

H— Hats, hats, hats

I don't think anyone enjoys wearing hats more than dads. Get him a personalized baseball cap!

E— Enjoy his storytimes

Dads love to talk, and now is a great time to listen; ask him cool stories about his childhood. Listen to him complain about his favorite team losing five games in a row. (You can get food while doing so.)

R—Rolex United States Sail Grand Prix Chicago

There's so much happening at Navy Pier during Father's Day weekend. The Rolex United States Sail Grand Prix is happening, and it's looking like the place to be!

You can also grab a box of Father's Day treats from places like Insomnia Cookies and go to the Shedd Aquarium.
