Black Political Opinion: Presidents are elected to work through crisis, not to vacation during one

Biden has been on vacation for 40% of his presidency, and, his approval rating is 40%.

As of August 24, 2023, President Joe Biden has taken 360 vacation days since taking office in January 2021. This averages to 147 days per year, which is more than any other president in recent history.

For comparison, Donald Trump took an average of 92 days per year, Barack Obama took an average of 41 days per year, and George W. Bush took an average of 127 days per year.

President Biden Vacations Twice During Maui Fire Disaster

President Joe Biden came under fire for vacationing twice during the recent wildfire disaster on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

On August 21, Biden broke away from his vacation in Lake Tahoe to visit Maui and view the damage caused by the fires. He met with survivors and emergency workers, and pledged continued federal assistance to the island.

The term "part-time president" has been used to describe Joe Biden by some critics who argue that he is not as active or engaged as he should be in the day-to-day work of the presidency.

These critics point to Biden's age (he is 80 years old), his tendency to make gaffes, and his frequent absences from the White House as evidence of his lack of commitment to the job.

Biden's supporters say he is still working even when he is away from the White House. Supporters argue that he is a hard-working and dedicated president and point to Biden's accomplishments, such as passing the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act as evidence of his effectiveness as president.

Black Political Opinion:

Presidents are elected to work, not to vacation. The presidency of the United States is one of the most demanding jobs in the world. It requires a person with a wide range of skills and experience, as well as the ability to work long hours and make difficult decisions.

Of course, there are times when presidents need to take some time off for rest and relaxation. However, these times should be limited and should not interfere with the president's ability to do their job or respond to a crisis.

The president's salary is paid by taxpayers, and when they take vacations, it costs money to transport them and their staff. This money could be better spent on other things, such as education or healthcare.

Most Americans would be fired if only showing up to work 60% of the time.
