The Biden administration has come under fire for its handling of illegal migrant children.
Migrant Child Laborers Under Biden
In recent months, there have been reports of children being held in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions at the border, and of being forced to work in dangerous jobs. A New York Times investigation found that thousands of migrant children were working in jobs across the country in violation of child labor laws.
In some cases, children have been forced to work in agriculture, construction, and other hazardous industries. They have also been reported to be working long hours for little pay, and to be living in fear of retaliation if they speak out.
Biden administration lost 85,000 immigrant kids
The Biden administration has also been accused of losing track of 85,000 migrant children who were released into the United States after crossing the border illegally. According to reports, the administration lost contact with the children after they were released to sponsors, and that the administration failed to properly vet the sponsors.
U.S 'middleman' in child trafficking says whistleblower
On Wednesday Tara Lee Rodas, a Health and Human Services (HHS) whistleblower, gave testimony before a House committee about her experience in 2021, when she volunteered to help the Biden administration with the crisis at the southern border:
As part of Operation Artemis, I was deployed to the Pomona Fairplex emergency intake site in California to help HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) reunite children with sponsors in the United States. I thought I was going to help place children in loving homes. Instead, I discovered that children are being trafficked through a sophisticated network that begins with recruiting in home country smuggling to the US. Border and ends when ORR delivers a child to a sponsor. Some sponsors are criminals and traffickers and members of transnational criminal organizations. Some sponsors view children as commodities and assets to be used for earning income. This is why we are witnessing an explosion of labor trafficking. Now, whether it's intentional or not, it could be argued that the United States government has become the middleman in a large scale, multibillion dollar child trafficking operation that is run by bad actors seeking to profit off of the lives of children.-Tara Lee Rodas
Opinion: Joe Biden’s party of neo-slavery
President Biden said at his State of the Union speech last year, “we need more immigration to fill jobs”. Other prominent Democrats have followed suit in his sentiment.
Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi(D) said we need immigrants to pick crops. More recently, Representative Pramila Jayapal (D) said the U.S. “needs immigrants” because they “pick the food we eat” and “clean our homes.” Chuck Schumer (D)said we need immigrants to make babies to populate our workforce.
Reflecting on my lived experience in observing unfettered illegal immigration for decades in California, last year I wrote an op-ed titled “Open borders are the new vehicle for slave labor in this country:
“I can tell you that the rich and their circles used these immigrants almost like slave labor. Yes indeed. The lawns were manicured, the houses were cleaned, and the nanny’s and cooks added to their affluent lifestyles". "The laborers-built houses and communities they would never be able to afford to live in”.
What other impacts on society will continued mass illegal immigration/migration over the Southern border have on America, I pondered? It seems we are starting to find out.

These children are vulnerable and need our protection. They have been through a traumatic experience, and they deserve to be safe and cared for. The Biden administration has a responsibility to ensure that these children are not lost or exploited.
