Jennifer-Ruth Green is a bi-racial, Black/Asian Republican, United States Air Force veteran, running to unseat Frank J. Mrvan in Indiana’s First Congressional District this midterm elections 2022.

If elected, Green would fill a seat held by Democrats for nearly a century. The race between Frank J. Mrvan and Jennifer-Ruth Green is currently a toss-up.

"I’m with the American people. The Congressional Black Caucus is with the politicians and lobbyists, and their career politician ally Frank Mrvan. America’s poorest communities are proof Frank Mrvan and the CBC care more about power and helping themselves than helping the people of northwest Indiana. It’s sad," Jennifer-Ruth Green told Fox News.

While the CBC has predominately been made up of members of the Democratic Party, the founding members of the caucus envisioned a non-partisan organization. Consequently, the CBC has a long history of bipartisan collaboration and members who are both Democrat and Republican. -Congressional Black Caucus

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has endorsed and made campaign contributions to the incumbent Frank J. Mrvan, a white Democrat who has voted in line with Joe Biden's stated position 100% of the time. The New York Times calls the CBC a firm part of the Democratic establishment.

The CBC says Mrvan, will fight against racial injustice and justified it’s endorsement to the Daily Caller with a statement:

“The Congressional Black Caucus PAC is committed to electing African Americans and African American allies to Congress who will fight for our values. Congressman Mrvan understands the importance of a woman’s right to choose and protecting access to healthcare for all people”. -CBC

Green is anti-abortion rights and supports a federal abortion ban after 15 weeks with exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.

The CBC said it also supports Mrvan because “we know he will continue to fight against racial and economic injustice.” While Jennifer-Ruth Green has pushed back against critical race theory stating I wholeheartedly disagree that every system is inherently racist.”

The Congressional Black Caucus was established in 1971 and since its inception the mission of the Caucus has expanded to include advocating for other communities outside of Black Americans. The predecessor to the caucus was founded in January 1969 as the Democratic Select Committee by a group of black members of the House of Representatives.

On its website the Caucus says its goal is to “use the full Constitutional power, statutory authority, and financial resources of the federal government to ensure that African Americans and other marginalized communities in the United States have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream”.
